I just wanted to take a moment so I can give my thanks and appreciation for all you provided me during the Enhanced Course in Tampa (March 2006). Please also give thanks to your support staff in the office and on the phones. They helped make the experience a pleasure.

You all shared your years of experience and knowledge with sincerity. It was obvious you have a passion for the business and a desire to teach. Each of you took your professional experience and made it real to us and did not just stand in front of a group and recite text—you actually taught. You all took a few minutes to share personal experiences (good and bad) that would take years for us to learn.

Because of your efforts I was well prepared going into the NHIE®. I was not able to get it done in the first two weeks as you all suggested but it is finally done and I PASSED...

Taking the Kaplan course was a very enlightening experience. I had thought that I had a pretty good grasp of proper home construction, but I now realize that there was much that I needed to learn and will continue to need to learn....Thank you for everything that you did for us. I wanted to send you a thank you note for the insightful learning experience I recently had at your school. I was reticent to take the course due to the initial investment required (in fact I put it off for over a year, before signing up). Had I known the amount of knowledge that would have been imparted to me in those 11 days before hand, I would have signed up sooner, and been more than willing to pay more than double the amount that was charged for the course. When I researched inspection schools, Kaplan (and two others) stood out. I chose Kaplan, based on instructor experience, wide variety of services offered, recommendations, and price. Now, I know that I made the right choice. I took the final exam on-line today, and had no problem getting a great score. It further helped me to understand the amount of new material I learned in such a short time. Even more astonishing while taking the course was the amount of stuff that I didn't know. With a background in Construction and Real Estate, I didn't know how much new material I would receive, and now I feel that all builders should be required to attend the 11 day course before being able to build anything. There were a number of things that I liked about the course. One that stands out, is that the wide range of the students that attended was fantastic and proved to be useful to my absorption of all the new material. Socializing during breaks and after class helped me to come up with questions and "what if's" during the curriculum to make sure there were no holes in my educational goals. I especially liked the "changing of the guard". Both Brian Dunbar and David Sherwood proved to be extremely knowledgeable instructors, and it was good to get different viewpoints on procedure and business methods from other long-time professionals in the business so that I could formulate my own opinions. It was a very positive overall experience and I hope to return and take more courses in the future. Your business savvy is very evident, and I'm sure you will produce many successful inspectors in the years to come. Thank you. Feel free to use me or this letter as a reference as you wish.

Dear Steve,

It has been only a short time since I finished the two courses at Kaplan. Thanks to the wonderful instruction received in your classroom, I have made considerable progress.

Darren Konuik, Gerry Leuter and I have met many times on Long Island for Sunday study groups. These are two great new friends. We have worked well together reviewing the 50 lbs of class notes and textbooks.

Recently I passed the ASHI Standards and Ethics examination. Just yesterday I passed the National Home Inspector Examination with a score of 676. I am thrilled to put away my Code Check books and take some time to relax.

I have also completed forming an Limited Liability Corporation in the hopes of future business. The name I finally selected is "The Home Inspection Pro. LLC." My website is www.TheHomeInspectionPro.com (now under construction by my son Adam).

Finally, as a result of having joined ASHI, a local home inspector called ASHI for a list of names of newly trained inspectors. Starting Monday I will be one of three inspectors working for "Home Guard" a new company being started in Nassau County. The owner is a veteran manager of home inspectors (previously with another national franchise group).

I feel I owe my good fortune to having selected the [Kaplan Connecticut] school for my training. I am grateful for the skill, leadership and support you have given to all your students. Just wanted to say Thank You again for the excellent job of teaching that you provided at the Kaplan home inspection training March 7-18. I came home and studied, quite a bit more and then took the National Home Inspector Exam the first opportunity that I had, which was last Saturday. I wanted to let you know that I got through it with what I thought was a pretty good score of 638.

I've got a dozen or so mock inspections lined up, and contacts with realtors are/have been arranged. There is a good demand for me to get going, but I'm going to proceed with caution and have everything well practiced and the insurance in line before I take on a paying customers.
